Budding Career
Everett Corder, 16, of Amarillo, Texas interviews Texas Ranger Ian Kinsler at an April 27th game against the Tampa Bay Rays.
For some people it is never too early to start a career. One high school student blends his faith with his future career. For Everett Corder, interviewing major league baseball players like Josh Hamilton is just the beginning.
Corder, 16 and an incoming senior at Amarillo High School, wants to be a sports journalist, received a press pass, and approached Hamilton, primarily because he knew the number one draft pick in 1999 had nearly destroyed his baseball career by abusing drugs and alcohol. Fortunately, Hamilton found Jesus, and now uses his talent to give God the glory for his accomplishments such as winning the Most Valuable Player of the American League Championship. He also says Hamilton takes the words of Colossians 3:17 seriously because he “takes every opportunity to share Christ.” When he concluded the interview, the budding young journalist asked Hamilton if he could pray over him. “Bring it on!” Hamilton said.
