FREED-HARDEMAN UNIVERSITY:

HENDERSON, Tenn. — Bob and Joan Brown, parents of Karen Ferguson, have established a scholarship in honor of their slain daughter and grandson.

Karen Ferguson, 44, and Cole, 21, were shot to death Oct. 10, 2011, in the family’s Gulfport, Miss., home. The suspect in the double-homicide died of a self- inflicted gunshot wound a few miles away.

Bob Ferguson is the former chairman of Freed-Hardeman’s Department of Chemistry and Engineering Sciences. Karen Ferguson was the wife of Les Ferguson Jr., minister for the Orange Grove Church of Christ in Gulfport. To contribute to the scholarship fund, contact the development office at FHU.
