Above the Norm
DEAR NORAH:
A lot of my friends make crude jokes all the time. Everyone thinks they’re funny, but I find them to be immature and rude. I know the plausible answer would be to find new friends, but everyone acts the same way. I feel like I’m the only one who realizes that immature jokes aren’t funny. Any suggestions?

Dear ABOVE THE NORM:
You’re in a tough spot. Pray about this first. God has placed you in this situation for a reason. Even though it might be hard, try being a light to your friends. Communicate that you value your friendships, but certain jokes they make are inappropriate. If these are real friends they will listen and make an effort to take your concerns seriously. Most likely you’re probably not the only one feeling uncomfortable. I bet some of your friends are struggling with this same issue but are too shy to admit it. On the off chance that you are the only one not appreciating the crudeness, have the courage to change the subject and be open to meeting new people.
